BEING ACCOUNTABLE HELPS US ACCOUNT FOR EVERYTHING.
See how we go above and beyond safety regulations required by law.
Every single company should do everything in their power to follow construction safety regulations. And for some, that’s good enough. At East & Westbrook, not only do we follow the laws that are in place, we have a variety of internal protocols that we work by. Take a look.
SAFETY FROM THE TOP DOWN
Every department leader at East & Westbrook attends annual safety leadership training. This training covers speaking up, stopping work, listening to others and doing what’s right regardless of what’s going on. As a result, safety is—and continues to be—valued above speed, budget and convenience.
ACCOUNTABILITY INGRAINED IN OUR TEAM
Our culture and performance are strengthened through following safety policies and procedures. On the jobsite, each person is expected to recognize and call out potential hazards and risks. They should also identify common failures, such as tasks between the tasks, before any kind of work begins. Once these are found, mitigation strategies are reviewed with everyone so that the project can be performed with the correct regulations as well as the proper PPE and personnel.
TOTAL TRANSPARENCY
We believe in full transparency. When you work with us, you’ll find that information is easy to come by. In fact, we’ll have upfront conversations with you about any changes or substitutions that need to be made.
PROTECTING THE MESSENGER
Our team members are never punished for speaking up, no matter how big the risk or hazard they’ve discovered. Each day, we all want to safely go home and that means ensuring we follow all construction safety regulations as well as our own set of rules.
TRAINING PAYS DIVIDENDS
Every team member knows exactly what to look for with regard to safety. How? They participate in a three-day onboarding program that’s centered on safety training and inclusive of their 10-hour OSHA training. Plus, all supervisors have already completed their required 30-hour OSHA training.
OUR RESPONSE TO MISTAKES
We’re all human. Despite our training, experience and planning, there will be mistakes, and our team is quick to take responsibility for them. But because our internal efforts are as strongly graded as our external efforts, solutions to problems are quickly created and executed.
AWARD-WINNING SAFETY
In 2019, we were one of 14 companies to earn the title of America’s Safest Companies and only one of two construction firms to do so. We’re also a three-time recipient of the Governor’s Safety Award for Kentucky (2018, 2019, 2020). Our accolades are due in large part to the tireless work of our safety team members, who include the Director of Safety and a team of 5 regional and on-site safety managers.
If you want to work with a team whose internal accountability fills the gaps where safety regulations can’t, request a quote today.
Within our motto of Safety – Quality – Performance, safety is first for a reason. And it isn’t because it’s nice to have it there. It’s because we take tremendous pride in our safety culture, which is top of mind every day through outstanding task management on the jobsite.
