Project Engineer Non-Exempt

East & Westbrook Construction, Inc.

Reports to: Foreman

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • The Project Engineer provides technical support for the engineering process and contributes to the completion of a project. Performs engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems. Analyzes project requirements and performs standard technical calculations. Some regional travel may be required.
  • Handle Jobsite daily reporting, photos, and builder trend updates.
  • Compile and organize daily safety paperwork and permitting from each subcontractor on-site.
  • Work with the management team to create agendas and compile minutes for weekly subcontractor progress meetings.
  • Inventory and track material deliveries and materials stored on site.
  • Contact vendors to update lead times and receive material quotes.
  • Work with the management team to conduct subcontractor drawing audits.
  • Participate in Jobsite safety audits.
  • Work with the management team to perform weekly schedule updates and subcontractor progress reporting.
  • Adheres to all quality policies and procedures as outlined by E&W and the customer
  • Meet contractual conditions of performance
  • Review the work progress on a daily basis
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Obtain permits and licenses as required
  • Analyze, manage and mitigate risks
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Good communication and organization.  
  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and customer-focused.
  • Proven working experience in construction project management
  • Knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards
  • Understanding facets of the construction process
  • Familiarity with construction management software packages
  • Ability to plan and see the “big picture”
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Ability to work as part of a goal-oriented team

Working Environment:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 75% sitting, 10% walking,
 and 15% standing. The job is performed outdoors, indoors, and in various geographic locations.
